Reflections on an extraordinary 1st half of 2020

It is stating the obvious but COVID-19 has changed our lives – from how we live, how we interact with each other and indeed how we work. As CEO of Cromwood Group it has been my responsibility to ensure we find innovative ways to continue to provide our vital social housing services to save the lives of people who are homeless, sleeping rough and seeking Asylum.

I would like to commend my staff for their continuous efforts to ensure we provide vital services especially in the new work environment i.e. working from home, which for many was difficult to get used to. Nevertheless, they have all applied the highest levels of professionalism, for which, I would like to thank them.

I would like to encourage them to continue the excellent work they have delivered thus far, ensure social distance measures, be alert, keep themselves safe as well as keeping tenants and landlords safe.

I have ensured there are Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, hand sanitizers etc. available at our offices for staff to collect and use.

We have worked in partnership with local authorities, the Home Office and social banks in order to deliver vital social housing services to safeguard the most vulnerable people in society.

We have managed to provide much needed accommodation (over 1200 units) and support services to:

  • 348 Individuals sleeping rough in London and the Greater Manchester area
  • 292 Homeless individuals and families throughout the UK
  • 637 Asylum seekers on behalf of the Home Office

Our work has included not such providing accommodation but also vital support services including access to grant funding, food and essential services as well as products including medicine.

We will continue to provide our vital social housing services and continue to work with our partners, stakeholders and supporters in order to ensure that COVID-19 does not beat us and that we, together, succeed.
